| It is believed to have orignated in the middle east, although no one knows for sure. Knitted items don't have great durabilty in the course of history. A good source of information which should be available through your library, is Vogue Knitting, but the editors of Vogue Knitting Magazine. Richard Rutt also wrote a whole book on the history of knitting, but it has been out of print for a while and is harder to get ahold of. | |||
