I used this for 2-color fair-isle type knitting. Works up lovely. Soft, yet sturdy hand, lovely to work with. This is my favorite sport weight yarn at the moment. The price is right, the yardage great. I highly recommend it.

Note that the gauge I got is worked in slip stitch on size 1.5 - 2.0 needles in the round, for socks. That is why it differs so markedly from the gauge supplied by the manufacturer.

Very good. Soft,
smooth, easy-to-knit,
everything l've made
from it has looked
great. Hand-washable,
or gentle machine hand-
wash cycle. Will felt
if machine-dried.

Lovely for socks. Feels great on the feet, soft and cozy. Also nice for sweaters, baby things. Have made many pairs of socks with it, a ladies cardigan, a baby set, all with excellent results. Treat it gently in laundering and it should look good for a long time.

Out of four skeins, I
think one had a knot.
Reliable quality. I
did not include gauge
information because I
did not knit the yarn
by itself.

Other comments:
A great basic wool. Inexpensive (at least in the US) with a huge color range. Also comes in a worsted weight. One of the best combinations of price and quality around, and a good yarn for someone wanting to upgrade past craft store yarn.

Love this yarn! It's a
joy to work with and
washes nicely. I made
a lace shawl with this
yarn and it continues
to be my favorite!

|
Other comments:
Very suitable for lace that has substance. The lace stitches show up very nicely. Large color selection, and cheap, too!

Other comments:
I used this yarn to knit two shawls. The yarn worked well and blocked out well.
The blue shawl does not get a lot of wear. The charcoal shawl lives in my office and gets worn daily, as I sit below an air conditioning duct. It has pilled quite a bit. The charcoal yarn is a heather, and the pills seem to be of the lighter color. I don't know if the pilling problem is due to the heather, but it's certainly aggravated by the friction from the office chair.

Quality comments:
After knitting the back
of a jacket from the
Jean Frost book,
Jackets, I noticed a
huge amount of pilling.
As this was to be a
gift the whole thing
went to the frog pond!
The label does say
permanently mothproofed
but I don't know if
that has anything to do
with the pilling. I
would not use this yarn
again.

May be good for a felting project but not for a garment to be worn, unless you like shaving a sweater everytime you wear it!

I've found this yarn to
split easily. I am
making a shawl from the
Folk Shawls book with
it, and I finished a
crocheted sweater
(that's where I got the
gauge above), which I
have worn several times.
It is starting to pill,
but I've worn the
sweater every day for at
least two weeks straight
(I was wearing it
instead of a jacket over
my clothes). And since
I'm new to wool, I'm not
real knowledgable, but
I've read that once you
get rid of the pills,
they're gone for good.
It's soft enough that if
I have a short sleeve
shirt underneath, it
doesn't bother my bare
arms. I'm washing it
for the first time
today, so I don't know
how it stands up after
washing. I'm fairly
pleased with it, but the
splitting drives me
nuts. I like a more
firmly plied yarn.

Other comments:
It works great for crocheted sweaters, which need a lighter weight yarn or they'll be too stiff and thick. It seems to be working well for the shawl, too.
