Quality comments:
Some knots. I used three different yarn lots of the 3-ply and it didn't seem to matter. Some chaff. The lanolin actually softened my hands! When I washed the sweater for the first time noticed that the water seemed fairly *dirty* so I washed the sweater three times, then gave it a couple of good rinses. The dirt isn't from MY house, I haven't had the yarn around that long! When they claim it's right off the sheep, they're not kidding! Now that it's washed, it's much softer & sweet-smelling, quite satisfying. It will take several days to dry, though, because it's so thick.

Other comments:
This yarn is rich in lanolin, so smelled "sheepy." It also felt a little rough while I worked. But once I washed the swatch, it softened up nicely, and the sts. locked in to each other. This is going to be a warm, sturdy sweater-jacket--very nice & thick. I would use this yarn again.

Quality comments:
The yarn is quite rough
in the hands as you
work with it, a very
small amount of chaff
(maybe 2 pieces per
skein, I found). I
found 1 or 2 knots per
skein, which were all
in only one of the
plies: I just untied
the knot and
(intensively!) spit-
spliced the pieces
together.
Indiscernible where it
was afterwards.

The lanolin is nice on your hands. I sort of liked the feeling I was using something closer to the sheep than many of the more processed yarns, but felt that I would only use it for hearty outdoor-y things.
That thinking changed once I washed it (dirty water: I recommend you do wash when you block your knitting, don't just use steam or plain water). After washing, it became much much softer, it fulled slightly, fluffing and filling in the stitches nicely. I found myself thinking, hey, this is great yarn! I will not only use it again, I am using it again right now, for my own design.
