Introduction
Use this page to add a yarn listing and your review at the same time. There are 3 sections to this form:

1. Manufacturer of the Yarn	This pop-up pick list shows the ten most represented manufacturers in the collection. If the manufacturer you want is on this list, select it by clicking on its name.
	If you want to choose a manufacturer that isn't on this list, please press "Lookup/Add" and type the first few letters of the manufacturer's name. Press "Search" to find out if your manufacturer is already in our catalog. A list of manufacturers will pop up. If yours is on it, click on its name. If your manufacturer isn't on the list, please type in its full name, then press "Add." Select the new manufacturer's name from the "Successfully-Added" list that appears.
2. Yarn Details	This section covers the information listed on the yarn's label. Please don't guess. If the info isn't listed, please leave the field blank.
Name	Please enter the yarn's name as listed on its label. Examples: Germantown, WoolEase. Country Style DK Classic Tweed.
Fiber Content	Please enter the yarn's fiber content as listed on its label. Examples: 100% wool; 50% cotton, 25% acrylic, 25% nylon; 100% cashmere. If the yarn is listed as being one particular subtype of fiber, please list that too (Merino wool, Egyptian cotton, virgin wool, Shetland wool are all examples of fiber sub-types.)
Yarn Type	Please select the closest term that describes the weight of your yarn. Note that "ply" is used here in the UK/European sense. It refers to the weight of the yarn strand, not the actual number of plies from which the yarn is spun. Closest US equivalents are listed along with their equivalent in plies. If your yarn truly defies description, please choose "Novelty." You can use this chart to help determine your yarn's type (note that designers often deviate from these "standard" gauges):
	Yarn Type Description Approx UK/European Ply Most Common Gauge Cobweb A super-fine yarn used for knitting the most gossamer of lace. 1 Ply Lace Weight The most popular weight used for lace. Yarns in this group can vary quite a bit as to thickness, but all are finer than fingering. 2 Ply Fingering 3 or 4 Ply 7-9 stitches = 1 inch Sock Usually a fingering yarn made from a blend of wool or cotton plus a reinforcing fiber like nylon. Although it can be used for any garment, it is especially recommended for socks. 3 or 4 Ply 7-9 stitches = 1 inch Baby Usually a yarn that is especially soft and easy to wash. Weights vary, although most are fingering to sport or somewhere in-between. 4 -6 Ply 6-7 stitches = 1 inch Sport 6 Ply 6 stitches = 1 inch Double Knitting Also called DK, and sometimes "Light Worsted" 8 Ply 5.5 stitches = 1 inch Worsted 10 Ply 5 stitches = 1 inch Aran Also called "Heavy Worsted" 4-5 stitches = 1 inch Bulky Also called "Chunky" 12 - 14 Ply 3-4 stitches = 1 inch Super Bulky Also called "Super Chunky" or "Ultra" 14 Ply (or more) 3 or fewer stitches = 1 inch Ribbon A woven ribbon or tape as opposed to a spun yarn Novelty Anything that defies description, especially yarns that have extreme flocked, puffball, furry or eyelash textures; thin strands normally "knit along" with another yarn; or yarns featuring extreme thickness variations.
Year Purchased or Acquired	Please enter the approximate year you bought, found, traded for or otherwise came by your yarn. We realize that your acquisition could have happened years after the product was originally released, or that you "rested" for a long time before you got around to trying it out. That's o.k.
Needle Size (units)	Please enter the hand-knitting needle size recommended by the manufacturer as it appears on the yarn's label. Examples: 10.5 US; 3.5 mm, 4 UK.
Stitch Gauge per (units)	Please enter the hand-knitting stitch gauge recommended by the manufacturer as it appears on the yarn's label. Please enter values for number of stitches, length of unit measured, and type of unit used. Examples: 3 = 1 inch; 20 = 10 cm.
Row Gauge per (units)	Please enter the hand-row stitch gauge recommended by the manufacturer as it appears on the yarn's label. Please enter values for number of stitches, length of unit measured, and type of unit used. Examples: 6.5 = 1 inch; 28 = 10 cm.
Skein Weight	Please enter the weight of the skein you purchased. Please remember to enter the type of measurement unit used. Examples: 50g; 4 oz. For quantities using pounds, please enter the number of equivalent ounces.
Skein Length	Please enter the length of the skein you purchased. Please remember to enter the unit of measurement used. Examples: 220 yards; 185 meters.
Washing Method	Please enter the washing method recommended on the manufacturer's label. Examples: Hand wash or dry clean; Machine wash warm, dry flat.
3. Your Results/Comments	This section is all yours! This is the place to record your experiences, comments, and perceptions of the yarn.
Needle size (units)	Please enter the hand-knitting needle size YOU used for your gauge swatch or project. Examples: 5 US; 3.5 mm, 13 UK.
Stitch gauge per (units)	Please enter the hand-knitting stitch gauge YOU used for your gauge swatch or project. Please enter values for number of stitches, length of unit measured, and type of unit used. Examples: 3 = 1 inch; 20 = 10 cm.

Gauge in stockinette?	Please check this box if the gauges you provided at left were taken over stockinette stitch. If they were not, please do not check the box.
Quality	This is the area for you to record your perceptions of the yarn's overall quality, and any quality-related experiences you wish to share. Please check the button that corresponds to how well the yarn fared overall in quality. Feel free to elaborate on this rating in the box. Things you might consider include uniformity of length, presence or absence of knots, chaff, or spinning imperfections; and whether the yarn sheds dye as it is knit or washed. Other quality-related comments are welcome, too.
Suitability	This is the area for you to record your other comments. How suitable was this yarn for Please check the box that corresponds to your overall impression of the yarn, and its suitability. Feel free to elaborate on this rating in the box. Things you might consider include how easy or difficult this yarn was to knit or rip back; what particular styles or types of knitting or garments it might be suited for; what you used this yarn to make; and whether or not you would buy it again.
Cost rating	Would you consider this yarn a budget purchase? A luxury purchase? Please select the button that corresponds to your overall perception of the yarn's cost level. If you bought the yarn on sale, off price or at deep discount and don't know its original cost, or have no records of how much it was, please check "don't know."
